SJRes1
28th Amendment (Equal Rights) Deadline Removal
Senate Joint Resolution 1 has the bipartisan support of a majority of Senators. All Democrats and Independents have either signed on in the past or made comments/commitments during their 2020 campaigns. Senators Murkowski (R-AK) and Collins (R-ME) are also supportive.
However, unless at least 60 Senators agree to allow SJRes1 to the Senate floor (or the filibuster rule is changed), it is unlikely to advance.
The map below shows only the co-sponsors of SJRes1 and does not reflect the known universe of Senate supporters. The current strategy with SJRes1 is to sign Senators onto the legislation in pairs so it stays evenly balanced. Therefore, if an Independent / Democratic Senator wants to sign on they have to bring a Republican with them and vice versa.

- When sending a note to Democrats, thank them for their support and ask them what they are doing to work across the aisle to ensure this important legislation can be passed.
- When sending a note to Republicans:
- If your Senator is Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) or Susan Collins (R-ME), please thank them for their support.
- Otherwise, encourage your Senator to be an equality champion. 168 other countries include gender equality in their constitution and so should we!
