RSVP: March 5th Briefing
Equality, diversity, and inclusion are American imperatives and COVID-19 has highlighted key gender inequities in American society. Both the left (Brookings Institute article here) and the right (OpEd by Senator Joni Ernst here) agree that COVID-19 has dealt a striking blow to the childcare sector and mothers in the workforce.
But gender inequities are everywhere and impact all of us, not just mothers. Thirty-eight states have ratified the Equal Rights Amendment and now the 117th Congress has the historical opportunity to anchor equality laws in our Constitution by recognizing our 28th Amendment. Over 165 constitutions worldwide include gender equality and so should ours!
On March 5th at 11 am EST VoteEquality will host a virtual, bicameral, bipartisan staff briefing on the Equal Rights Amendment.
This briefing will highlight bipartisan staff from key offices sponsoring SJ Res 1 and HJ Res 17 and cover the wide variety of issues that will benefit from the 28th Amendment. Please bring your questions, concerns, and key issues. This staff briefing is informational and is not open to the press. The briefing is for open dialogue; all questions welcome.
