Relay 4 Rights

This is an ALL HANDS ON DECK action, in person in Washington, D.C.

YOU are invited: men, women, LGBTQIA+ Americans, those new to the Equal Rights Amendment, and those who have carried the torch for 101 years.

We need you to show up for this family-friendly demonstration of HOW CLOSE WE ARE to enshrining gender equality in our Constitution. We will pass a copy of our Constitution from the Haupt Fountain @ the White House to the National Archives along Constitution Avenue.

About 6.5 city blocks. That's how close we are...

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW -- RSVP TO GET A BLOCK ASSIGNMENT

Join us on Tuesday, December 10th to build a visible action that will be hard to ignore.

  • Wear black (+ a favorite ERA pin if you have one)
  • Bring noisemakers (clackers, whistles, a cowbell -- always more cowbell)
  • (optional) Bring a sign or a banner
  • Dress warmly (hand warmers anyone?)

Event Overview

Relay4Rights is designed to be the most fun and HISTORIC relay race you've ever joined. NO running!!

Participants will pass a “baton” (a laminated + rolled copy of the US Constitution) from the Haupt Gardens @ the White House, down Constitution Ave, to the National Archives.

Block captains will be on each corner and will be identifiable by their silver vests with the ERA=28A graphic on the back.

Participants will be texted their assigned location the day before the event. Please arrive by 12:15 PM on December 10th. After the block captain relays the instructions, spread out on the back of the sidewalk (away from the street) and do not block foot traffic.

Students will kickoff our relay at 12:30 PM and the Constitution should arrive at the National Archives by 1:30 PM.

When the Constitution comes to you, take a quick pick to celebrate our action and post on your socials.

NOTE: Participants must remain on the sidewalk. When our Constitution needs to cross a street, a block captain will take that action (with the pedestrian/walk signal).
